1ARE YOU AN ATTORNEY, FINANCIAL ADVISOR or CPA?
We are not attorneys, financial advisors or CPA’s, however, we partner with these resources, when needed, to ensure that every task that we complete for you is under their advice. And if you do not have an estate attorney or financial advisor and your estate requires or would benefit from these resources, we are happy to connect you with our network of seasoned professionals.
2DO I NEED TO LIVE IN THE METRO-ATLANTA AREA TO HIRE BLACK DRESS CONSULTANTS?
We are happy to provide virtual or over-the-phone consulting to individuals and families in need regardless of your geographic location. However, there are limits to what we can do from afar and in order to complete many of the tasks needed in end-of-life situations, it is ideal that your loved one lives in the Metro-Atlanta area or did when they passed. Please reach out to us for a complimentary consultation to strategize on how we can best help you to let you know if we can help.
3WHAT STEPS WILL YOU TAKE TO PROTECT MY LOST LOVED ONE'S IDENTITY?
At Black Dress Consultants, protecting your family’s private information is our number one priority. Your family’s private information will be removed from our records once we have completed the work for your loved one’s estate. It is important to note that we are required to provide certain identifying information (such as account names, death certificates, etc.) to organizations in order to close accounts and stop services. In order to make you feel comfortable, we are happy to discuss the best way to access information and what needs to be completed in order to make sure the appropriate steps are taken for your loved one.
4HOW SOON AFTER A LOSS DO YOU START WORKING WITH FAMILIES?
Typically, we begin working with families a few weeks after the loss of a loved one, but we are available to talk with you immediately following the loss, or even years after. Our goal is to provide answers, clarity and guidance to families whenever it’s needed. Please let us know if you would like a copy of our After Loss Checklist.
5DO YOU PROVIDE PRE-PLANNING FOR END-OF-LIFE?
Yes! Our Estate and Legacy Planning package includes an audit of your current estate documents, followed by a plan to execute any forms or decisions you might be missing.
6CAN YOU HELP ME TALK WITH MY PARENTS TO MAKE SURE THEY’RE PREPARED?
A national survey conducted in 2018 by The Conversation Project found that 92 percent of Americans say it’s important to discuss their wishes for end-of-life care, but only 32 percent have had such a conversation. Black Dress Consultants can help provide you with the tools to have the end-of-life talk with your parents so that you can both live worry-free.
7HOW ARE YOU ABLE TO MAKE PHONE CALLS AND CLOSE ACCOUNTS FOR MY LOST LOVED ONE IF YOU ARE NOT A FAMILY MEMBER OR EXECUTOR OF THE ESTATE?
When Black Dress Consultants completes the After Loss plan for you, you will sign an agreement that permits Black Dress Consultants to act as a legal representative on behalf of the executor (you). This agreement permits us to make phone calls, close accounts and coordinate resources on your behalf. The executor will have authority over what actions Black Dress Consultants can take. Full approval from you and your family is required before Black Dress Consultants takes action on any task.
8CAN I GIFT BLACK DRESS CONSULTANTS TO A FAMILY MEMBER OR FRIEND?
Gifting Black Dress Consultants is giving your family member or friend peace of mind to know that their lost loved one is being taken care of. From organizing their estate documentation or making sure everything is closed out appropriately, we are knowledgeable, organized and sensitive with the families we serve. We make it easy to ensure everything is handled appropriately – no matter how big or small the task. Please contact us to learn more about gifting Black Dress Consultants.
9CAN I PREPAY FOR BLACK DRESS CONSULTANTS AFTER LOSS SUPPORT FOR MYSELF?
Yes, we offer a prepayment option for our After Loss Support Package. This is a thoughtful way to ensure your family will have support while taking on the difficult tasks that follow a loss. If you are considering prepaying, we ask that Black Dress Consultants review your current estate documentation to determine if you are a good candidate to support you and your family.
